A Sweet, Simple Dip for Summer

Last minute cookout quandaries be gone.

We’ve all had those moments. You get a text from a friend that she’s holding an impromptu cookout for a few friends. All you need to do is bring a dish to share. Since it’s last minute, no one would care if you brought a bag of tortilla chips and a jar of salsa or a box of ice cream sandwiches. However, there are dishes that are almost that easy that are homemade.

Today’s solution is a recipe that I’ve been making for decades, literally, but just posted on Think Tasty last year. It’s my Ridiculously Easy Fruit Dip. It requires only two ingredients and then whatever fruit you want to use as the dipper. If you live in New England, you quite possibly have the two ingredients on hand: Marshmallow Fluff and cream cheese.

Besides being ridiculously easy, this dip also is flexible. Want to use at as a dessert? Because it is quite sweet, it is a fine option for the dessert course. However, since you’re serving it with fruit, it could be used as an appetizer or even as a side dish during dinner. (I know. Marshmallow Fluff probably shouldn’t be part of a dinner menu, but it’s a cookout, so all rules are off.

Get your dip mixed, grab a beverage or two to share with the crowd, and go have a fabulous gathering!
