Add lots of great flavor to your appetizers by simply caramelizing some of your ingredients.

The more that I cook, the more that I am amazed by the smallest things that can make food so much tastier. One of those things is caramelizing ingredients. A bit of heat and a pinch of sugar can take a dish from average to extraordinary. For me, rounding out that caramelization with a little bit of salt takes it to a level that is off the charts. To get some caramelized goodness into your snacking, try one of these recipes.

Caramelized Peaches with Bacon & Blue Cheese– Peaches being caramelized in an appetizer? You betcha. Paired with salty bacon and blue cheese it’s a delightful yin and yang of flavors.

Caramelized Onion & Bacon Mini Tarts– Caramelized onions on their own are divine. Combine them with bacon, and you have an appetizer that hits on all the right notes.

Peach & Caramelized Onion Bruschetta– When you think about peaches, you probably don’t think about onions. However, paired together in this bruschetta, they seem like they were meant to be paired.

Caramelized Squash Bites– Butternut squash is a fall side dish staple. Elevate it from side of the dish to center of the appetizer menu with this easy to make, sweet and salty, snack.

Caramelized ingredients, one way to make your appetizers a little bit tastier.
