The Best Goat Cheese Dip with Blackberry Compote

A chilled goat cheese dip topped with slightly sweet blackberry compote

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups blackberries
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1+ tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 6 ounces goat cheese softened
  • 2 ounces cream cheese softened

Instructions
 

  • Combine blackberries, vinegar, and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  • Mash berries.
  • Stir frequently, until sauce begins to boil.
  • Reduce heat to low, and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes.
  • Remove sauce from heat, and allow to cool for 30 minutes.
  • While sauce simmers combine goat and cream cheeses in serving dish.
  • Spread into an even layer.
  • Top cheese spread with compote.
  • Refrigerate for at least one hour before serving.
  • Serve with crackers, bagel chips, crostinis, or pretzels.
