crusty Italian bread

Jonagold apples

light brown sgar

cup
whole milk

tablespoons
unsalted butter
1/2
teaspoon
cinnamon
1
teaspoon
vanilla
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease a 1-1/2 quart baking dish.
Cut bread into 1-inch cubes.
Peel, core, and dice apples.
Combine bread and apples in a prepared baking dish.
Combine brown sugar, milk, and butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Stir until butter has melted.
Pour over bread and apples, and stir well to combine well.
Whisk eggs, cinnamon, and vanilla in a small bowl.
Add to bread and apples, mix well.
Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until set.
Allow to cool for 15 minutes.
Optional: serve with whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream.

*Other apples may be used.
