Freshly Picked Apple Bread Pudding

Ingredients
  

  • 5 slices crusty Italian bread
  • 2 Jonagold apples
  • 1/2 cup light brown sgar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease a 1-1/2 quart baking dish.
  • Cut bread into 1-inch cubes.
  • Peel, core, and dice apples.
  • Combine bread and apples in a prepared baking dish.
  • Combine brown sugar, milk, and butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  • Stir until butter has melted.
  • Pour over bread and apples, and stir well to combine well.
  • Whisk eggs, cinnamon, and vanilla in a small bowl.
  • Add to bread and apples, mix well.
  • Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until set.
  • Allow to cool for 15 minutes.
  • Optional: serve with whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream.

Notes

*Other apples may be used.
