A night in Boston leaves a couple with lots of options. Looking for a nice dinner for two, we decided to check with the concierge at our hotel. Telling him that we wanted an upscale restaurant that was fun and had a great menu, he suggested Scampo at the Liberty Hotel. What a great suggestion it was!
Arriving at the restaurant around 8:00 without a reservation, we were told it would be a 45 minute wait. As we were without kids for the night, a wait was not a problem. In fact, we often enjoy a bit of a wait. It

Review: 1789 Restaurant, Washington, DC
by TT on September 1st, 2009 | Restaurant Reviews
An evening of travel without children means it is the perfect time for a culinary adventure. For my husband and me that usually means an evening of strolling to a few different restaurants and enjoying a different appetizer or small dish at each. However, during our quick trip to Washington, DC, we decided to indulge in an evening of fine dining. Not regular visitors to this city, we relied upon our concierge's recommendation of 1789 Restaurant.
Our concierge made our reservation for 9:00, but we decided to arrive a little early to check out the restaurant and enjoy a pre-dinner

After a brief stay at my in-laws' house last weekend, my husband and I headed to Washington, DC. It was a quick trip, just two nights and one day before I returned home and he headed to a conference in the area. Although it was a bit of a whirlwind, we did manage to tour a good number of museums and sample food at several different locations.
After a late night dinner on Friday, we weren't in a rush to eat breakfast on Saturday. Having seen what looked to be a popular cafe during our Friday night stroll through Dupont Circle,

Best Brunch in the Northeast?

Lazy weekend mornings and brunches are quite a pairing. While the advantage of staying in pjs as your make your own brunch at home is quite nice, the thought of having numerous food choices and no clean-up can make getting dressed worth the effort.
In an attempt to help those in the Northeast find the best brunch restaurants, I submitted a query to HARO (Help a Reporter Out) seeking recommendations for great brunch restaurants in New England and Upstate New York. Many, many recommendations were received and reduced to one restaurant per state. Unfortunately, Rhode Island and Vermont were not represented.

Review: Pangaea, North Bennington, Vermont
by TT on July 8th, 2009 | Restaurant Reviews, Salads
After a rainy, work-filled June, my husband and I decided to start July on a relaxing note. Although technically we started July with a 12-hour workday, we did get to the relaxation part on the second day. Not sure of weather and plans for the holiday weekend, we made reservations for lodging and dinner for our trip at 1:00 (the day of our trip!) and were traveling west by 2:00. With reservations at the Eddington House Inn that included a 5-course wine tasting dinner at Pangaea, we were hopeful of having an enjoyable night away.

Review: Washington Street Ale House, Wilmington, DE
by TT on June 8th, 2009 | Restaurant Reviews
On a weekend trip to Delaware, we were seeking a restaurant near our hotel that would please adults and kids alike. Thankfully, the concierge at our hotel recommended the Washington Street Ale House.
Entering the restaurant, we were greeted by the hostess and seated at one of the available tables on the restaurant side, which was sparsely filled. The lounge portion of the restaurant was fairly packed. Our waitress, Shannon, greeted us and asked to take our drink orders. As we had had a moment to check out the menu, my husband also ordered an appetizer at this point.

Spending time with family in the mid-Atlantic area this week, we've done lots of driving and have been eating on different schedules. With a 6:00 Little League game to watch on Monday, we weren't ready to eat on the drive there. Instead we decided to enjoy the warm late April weather and the athletic talents of 7 and 8 year olds, especially of one 8 year old in particular, and dine later.
By the time the game ended and hugs and congratulations were given, it was a little after 8. We decided to start our drive and find a place to

Review: Super Duper Weenie, Fairfield, CT

A few of you may be reading this article and wondering what, exactly, was I doing at a hot dog stand. Did I go to this venue with children or at the pleading request of my husband? The answer to both of those questions is no. Having remembered seeing this place on the tv show, "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives," we decided this would be a good halfway lunch stop when we returned from a trip to Baltimore.
When we arrived at Super Duper Weenie, it was apparent that we weren't the only people deciding to have a late lunch at

Review: Maddie’s Bagel & Eatery, Salem, NH

What's nicer than a lazy Saturday morning followed by an afternoon of shopping? One, getting to spend that sort of day with my husband (who is a very good shopper). Two, having an excellent breakfast made for you by someone else. Lucky me, I had a Saturday with all of these pieces recently.
After a slow start sort of morning, we decided to head to Salem to do some shopping. Not regular diners in that area, I did a little online searching and found decent reviews for Maddie's Bagel & Eatery. There was one warning- we could wait a bit to
