Our final Harvest Dinner event is not simply one event but an entire week of dining. Hosted by the
SJ Hot Chefs (AKA South Jersey Independent Restaurant Association),
Fall Harvest Week will take place from October 30th through November 4th. With more than thirty independently owned restaurants participating, it is sure to be an amazing week of food.
Each restaurant that participates will serve a four-course dinner, which will include a variety of locally sourced ingredients. Some of the menu items available from these restaurants include:
- Stuffed Bell Pepper- sweet sausage, fontina cheese, roasted tomato
- Fall Harvest Vegetable Misto Fritti- mushrooms, eggplant

Depending on whom you ask, summer has a different starting point. For some, the summer solstice is considered to be the start. According to meteorologists, it is June 1st. For children, it's the day that school is done for the year.* For others, it's Memorial Day weekend. Regardless to which date you observe, summer is approaching rapidly.

This week many restaurants and bakeries in the Greater Boston area will be participating in
2011 Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer. In partnership with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer has a sweet goal in mind: sell baked good with profits being given to breast cancer research.
This year over 270 restaurants and bakeries will be participating in this week-long event. Starting today, May 2nd, and continuing until May 8th, you can know that one hundred percent of the profits from select sweets will be given to research. In the past few months I have posted several recipes that I don't consider to be true recipes. Although they require some cooking or kitchen skills, they usually contain only one or two ingredients and involve a minimal number of steps. However, I do believe that all of them are useful.
