Our final Harvest Dinner event is not simply one event but an entire week of dining. Hosted by the
SJ Hot Chefs (AKA South Jersey Independent Restaurant Association),
Fall Harvest Week will take place from October 30th through November 4th. With more than thirty independently owned restaurants participating, it is sure to be an amazing week of food.
Each restaurant that participates will serve a four-course dinner, which will include a variety of locally sourced ingredients. Some of the menu items available from these restaurants include:
- Stuffed Bell Pepper- sweet sausage, fontina cheese, roasted tomato
- Fall Harvest Vegetable Misto Fritti- mushrooms, eggplant

Depending on whom you ask, summer has a different starting point. For some, the summer solstice is considered to be the start. According to meteorologists, it is June 1st. This week many restaurants and bakeries in the Greater Boston area will be participating in
2011 Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer. In partnership with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer has a sweet goal in mind: sell baked good with profits being given to breast cancer research.
This year over 270 restaurants and bakeries will be participating in this week-long event. Starting today, May 2nd, and continuing until May 8th, you can know that one hundred percent of the profits from select sweets will be given to research. About this time of year, many gardens are overflowing with produce. That isn't a problem we figured we would have this year, as we planted a modest garden of some container plants and a small plot of pepper plants.
