Fall Harvest Week

Our final Harvest Dinner event is not simply one event but an entire week of dining.  Hosted by the SJ Hot Chefs (AKA South Jersey Independent Restaurant Association), Fall Harvest Week will take place from October 30th through November 4th.  With  more than thirty independently owned restaurants participating, it is sure to be an amazing week of food.

Each restaurant that participates will serve a four-course dinner, which will include a variety of locally sourced ingredients.  Some of the menu items available from these restaurants include:

  • Stuffed Bell Pepper- sweet sausage, fontina cheese, roasted tomato

Depending on whom you ask, summer has a different starting point.  For some, the summer solstice is considered to be the start.  According to meteorologists, it is June 1st.  For children, it's the day that school is done for the year.*  For others, it's Memorial Day weekend.  Regardless to which date you observe, summer is approaching rapidly.

Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer

This week many restaurants and bakeries in the Greater Boston area will be participating in 2011 Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer.  In partnership with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer has a sweet goal in mind: sell baked good with profits being given to breast cancer research.

Earlier this month, Think Tasty readers had the opportunity to choose the best restaurant in the Northeast region.  With ten terrific  restaurants on our list, picking the best was a difficult decision.  Voting was constant, with readers adding their votes and leaving comments raving about their restaurants until the end.  When voting was done, the restaurant that earned the most votes was Little Pub.

Last month, Think Tasty readers had the opportunity to choose the best restaurant in the Rocky Mountain region.  With ten excellent restaurants from which to choose, it was a challenging decision.  Until the last moment, patrons provided their votes and left comments praising their restaurants.  When voting ended, the restaurant that earned the most votes was Pirogue Grille in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Eggplant Parmesan Dip

About this time of year, many gardens are overflowing with produce.  That isn't a problem we figured we would have this year, as we planted a modest garden of some container plants and a small plot of pepper plants.  However, a couple weeks ago our one patio eggplant ivory plant had about a dozen eggplants ready for picking.
